Best Inversion Table

Inversion Table – A ton of people to say the least suffer from back pain every day. I have been dealing with Chronic Back Pain for many years as well. I have also purchased and used many products for back pain.  One of those products being an inversion table.

An inversion table is something I have used in the past and they can definitely produce results. My experience with inversion therapy was with a physical therapist over several weeks. The days I would get therapy it felt great during and afterward for a short while. But it did not least for me so I did not bother buying an inversion table for home use.

Keep in mind, that was my experience. Just because it did not work out for me, that does not mean it will not work for you? I know others and a family member who swears by inversion therapy. They all do it from home because of the convenience and the money they end up saving.

I recommend to always you check with your doctor or a medical professional first before attempting inversion therapy.

If you are thinking of getting an inversion table and want to know more about them? I have provided some helpful information to steer you in the right direction to find the Best Inversion Table!

What is an Inversion Table?

A aan questions "what is an inversion table?"

Inversion tables are tables that are created to use the center of gravity to help relieve the pressure in your spine and other areas which often result in back pain or joint aches.

Inversion therapy is a spinal technique that angles the top of your body downward for a certain amount of minutes. Inversion therapy uses gravity and your own bodyweight to stretch and elongate your spine. This will alleviate the pressure of any compressed discs by decompressing them.

The process of inversion therapy is performed by using an inversion or traction table. These tables allow you to secure yourself to the table and then adjust the angle range in which the table tilts. You can remain in this inverted position for as long as you want. The usual time is no more than 15 minutes and that all depends on the angle you are at.

Many people undergo inversion therapy during visits to their chiropractors or physical therapists. However, times have changed. You can give yourself inversion therapy at home with an inversion table. It will save you the time you would otherwise spend going to an appointment. You buy an inversion table and that’s it for the money that needs to be spent.

How Inversion Therapy Relieves Chronic Back Pain

Inverting the body is a natural therapeutic process that has been used for many centuries for strength-building, pain-relief, stretching and more. Several doctors and therapists recommend inversion therapy.

The purpose behind inversion therapy is to counter the effects that gravity can have on your body. Gravity pulls your organs, muscles, and joints downward, and this compresses them against your spine. It’s believed that over time, this gravity can produce compression resulting in issues like chronic back pain.

Finding the cause of chronic back and other back pain sources can not always be determined. But spinal compression will often be a contributing factor. Many people are not very active, and end up sitting for long periods of time without much movement. Using a holistic approach like inversion therapy can help in reversing the effects of a non-active lifestyle by promoting movement.

Inversion therapy will alleviate pressure from the spine and increase the space between your vertebrae. This is viewed as a holistic approach to pain relief. Inversion therapy is used for chronic lower back pain, non-specific back pain, Sciatica pain, degenerative disc disease, and muscle tension.

Inversion Table Benefits

There are several health benefits you can get from inversion therapy via the best inversion table. The inversion table will stretch and release any tension from your muscles that are around the spine. If you do inversion therapy on a regular basis, it can give you other benefits besides pain relief. Such as reducing stress, improving your blood circulation and improving flexibility.

Maintaining Good Spine Health

A doctor is checking a mans spine.

A common reason that people experience back pain is due to their spinal alignment. If you are not maintaining good posture throughout the day, it will place unnecessary stress on your spine when it’s not aligned properly.

Massage and manipulation of your spine are techniques used to help relieve compression on the spine. Which can lead to better spine health over time. Inversion therapy is similar, as it inverts the body downward, and that allows for stretching from gravity’s pull.

Holistic wellness and natural pain management approaches are always good to explore if you are facing possible surgery for a bulging disc, sciatica, lumbar pain or other back problems. Inversion therapy could be a good solution for many people who would otherwise need to undergo a surgical procedure.

There have been several studies when it comes to chronic lower back pain. One study looked at how inversion therapy could help those who were in line to have lumbar surgery. The conclusion resulted in that “intermittent traction with an inversion device resulted in a significant reduction in the need for surgery.”

I can only draw from my experience and the first thing that comes to mind is the inversion therapy may be only putting a band-aid on the problem. But I know it can be very effective for pain relief as I stated above.

Inversion therapy produced temporary results for me. Getting permanent pain relief through inversion therapy is not something that has been scientifically proven. Inversion therapy is something you would use to get pain relief. How often you would need to use it would depend on your situation. Some people need it daily while others only need inversion therapy occasionally to curb their pain.

If you have an inversion table in your home it would allow you to invert whenever you want. This could really make a difference in keeping your back pain under control.  It may not totally resolve your problem but it could help you to avoid surgery if that’s something you do not want to undertake. Surgery is not always the answer and that’s speaking from experience. I have had several surgeries.

Increase Mobility and Reduce Stress

A lady sits on the floor with her arms over her head showing mobility.

The use of an inversion table can help to de-stress. When you put your head below your heart, it can activate your parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS) that is part of the nervous system, which is often referred to as the “Rest and Digest System”. It controls bodily activities that take place when you are at rest. Such as digestion, salivating, and crying.

It stands to reason that if you have back pain you want to avoid physical activity. I know this first hand, especially when that physical activity makes the pain worse. However, remaining stagnant will only make your back pain worse. Doing nothing may feel like the right thing to do at the moment. But in the long run, you are setting yourself up for more pain. Being active does not mean doing a full-blown workout.

The easiest form of exercise you can do is walk, so get up off that sofa and start walking, even if it is just around the house. Break it up and walk 5 to 10 minutes a couple of times a day. A little really does go a long way. Maintaining your mobility if you suffer from back pain is crucial. Inversion therapy, combined with exercise, has and still is producing good results for many people.

Need to Know Before Buying An Inversion Table

This is an image of a clip board on a table with the text "Objective" on a white piece of paper.

If you’re interested in having inversion therapy in your home, then investing in your own inversion table is a good viable option. Inversion tables are generally considered safe to use, providing your health is good. Before purchasing an inversion table it is always a good idea to check with your doctor first just to be safe. Be open and let them know what you plan on doing.

Inversion therapy does require your head to be below your heart. This type of therapy is not recommended if you have high blood pressure, heart disease or glaucoma. However, this does not necessarily mean you can not do inversion therapy. But this is all the more reason you should check with your doctor first before using an inversion table.

When using inversion therapy in your home, you have the freedom of trying different angles and duration’s to find the best settings that work for you. You might want to begin conservatively with an angle at 10 degrees then steadily increase the inversion from there. Using an inversion table in your home gives you advantages, that would otherwise not be possible.

Find the Best Inversion Table

These are 6 inversion tables.

I selected a variety of inversion tables to show you. I have spent some time with each one of the tables. Which one is the best inversion table? They all are very good inversion tables or I would have not listed them. I have supplied the essential information and videos to help you decide what may be the best inversion table for you?

Out of all of them, in my opinion, the best inversion table is the Teeter EP-560. You can not beat the quality and the comprehensive Full 5-Year Warranty. That warranty comes with all their inversion tables. They are more expensive than the others but there is a good reason for that.

Benefits and Features

This shows the features for the Innova ITM4800 Advanced Therapeutic Inversion Table.

The Innova ITM 4800 comes packed with a variety of features to make you’re inverting very enjoyable. This is a heavy-duty inversion table and it caters to a broad spectrum of people. It can serve people with heights from 4 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 6 inches. It can handle someone who weighs up to 300 pounds.

This product comes with a massage pad that has isolated heat and vibration panels to add to your experience. This gives you a massage during your inversion therapy. I thought this was a nice add on that will always be welcomed. If you are going to be hanging upside down you might as well make it more of an enjoyable experience.

The large backrest pad is built to provide superlative comfort and its True Balance System is designed to help you find your own center of gravity.

One of the better features of the ITM 4800 is its six-angle pin system for preventing you from falling or being uncomfortable during the inversion process. This inversion table is decently priced when you consider all the features that come with it.

Having True Balance technology makes it much easier for first-time users to adapt to it. The six-angle adjustable pin slot is a nice upgrade from the usual five-angle adjustable slot that most of these inversion tables come with.

This inverse table is heavier than many of the others, coming in at about 60 pounds. It does take some time to assemble it. I can not stand putting things together like this. Probably it’s because I am not good at it. I would be paying the extra $98 to have it assembled for me. I have had paid to have similar products assembled for me in the past and it was well worth it.

Innova ITX9900 Heavy Duty Deluxe Inversion Table.

The Innova ITX9900 was put out on the market in 2018. It is a heavy-duty modern deluxe inversion table by Innova Health and Fitness. It comes with air lumbar support that you can control during your inversion session if needed.

It has six different angles you can adjust it too. Additionally, there is a 6-position inversion pin located on the side, instead of having the older style strap that many inversion tables still use. This product also comes with an extra protective cover for easy positioning and an over strap for safe inverting.

New and Improved Ankle Holding System

This shows the features for the Innova ITX9900 Heavy Duty Deluxe Inversion Table.

It has an improved ergonomic ankle holding System that includes a large front holder and a smaller one in the rear. This is to alleviate the pressures on the ankle while inverting. The true balance and ergonomic designed ankle holding system will enable you to invert easily. There is a thick padded backrest for added comfort.

There is a big holder at the front and a smallholder at the back of this ergonomic ankle design. Its sole purpose is to have you feeling a lot less pressure on your ankle during your inversion. The max user weight this table can handle is 300 pounds that are supported by the heavy-gauge steel tube. People who are between the heights of 4’10” and 6’6” can easily invert comfortably.

It has a two-way adjustment for both your height and the headrest. This helps to find the optimal center of gravity for inverting easily. It is quite common for the ankle supports on inversion tables not to be very comfortable. But that is not the deal with the Innova ITX9900. Your ankle will not be taking in all the weight when you’re inverting.

This inverse table is full of safety features like the dual ankle clamps, and a comfortable board, backrest, and headrest. There is a long lock-release lever for your feet along with adjustable lumbar support. One great thing is you do not need to bend all the way down after you’re done with your inversion session. This is thanks to the longer lock-release foot lever. All of these features come at a very good price.

Inflated Air Lumbar Support

The inflated air lumbar support can easily be detached if you want. It simply clips on the backrest where there is a quick-release clip. It is very easy to fold up by just pulling a pin at the tip of the right base frame. Just re-insert the pin into the hole to put the lumbar support back. Make sure the base frame is left wide open so there is no tipping.

It can take a while to put this inverse table together. But I would not know about that because I prefer to pay the extra to have it put together for me. The Innova ITX9900 gives you a lot for your money. This does come with a one year warranty.

Teeter FitSpine LX9 Inversion Table -Treating back pain with inversion therapy can be very effective. Sitting too much is not good for your back and neither is being on your feet all day. Maybe you are super active and play sports often or like to go hiking? No matter what type of lifestyle you lead the back is often overworked. An Inversion table allows you to take some of the pressure off your discs in your spine, allowing you some pain relief.

Teeter has been making high-quality inversion tables for 30 plus years. They are the industry leader when it comes to inversion tables. I have used several inversion tables and I have to say there is a big difference in using a Teeter inversion table versus all the others.

That’s not to say Teeter inversion tables are the only good ones on the market. Because there are others that do a great job as well like the other tables I listed on this page. If you have used a Teeter along with any other inversion tables, you will know what I am talking about.

I know when I was in physical therapy the therapists spoke very highly of the Teeter inversion tables.
This inversion table is good for a wide range of people with heights from 4’8” to 6’6” and can handle up to 300lbs.

This inversion table comes with their FlexTech backrest. This suspension bed is designed to be flexible. So if you think you feel it moving, its because it is, and it will move with you. It has built-in hand grips that allow you to stretch to either side. When you go to stretch, the bed will flex with your movements. The trademark features of the backrest are it’s flexible, breathable, and comfortable design.

This Teeter inversion table has also added acupressure nodes. You can place them on the backrest wherever you want them. This will give a trigger point massage to loosen any tight muscles. They also include a lumbar bridge for adding some extra stretch to your lower back.

Ankle Locking System

This shows the Teeter FitSpine LX9 Inversion Table and its different features.

Teeter has one of the best ankle locking systems for an inversion table in the industry. The system parts are the locking/release handle, the ankle cushions, and the foot-bed.

Bending is not always the best idea if you are suffering from a lot of back pain.

The ankle cushions are designed to give you a secure and snug fit. But you want that security when you are hanging upside down. These cushions will definitely make you feel secure.

Teeter offers a full five-year warranty on its inversion tables. The only downside to the Teeter FitSpine LX9 Inversion Table is the price compared to the other inversion tables I listed.
