Main Attributes of the Varidesk Pro Plus 48
The Varidesk Pro Plus 48 has 2 very spacious tiers. The expansive workspace on the upper tier is 48″ x 13.75″ making it perfect if you are using 2 monitors. The lower tier is used for standard keyboards, a mouse, other devices and items you would need on your desk.

Do You Need a Three Monitor Workstation?
I wanted to mention this because I know some buyers have been disappointed after receiving the Varidesk Pro Plus 48. The reason for the disappointment is some people assume that this desk can handle three monitors. It can only handle two monitors. If you want to use three monitors here are a couple of options:
You will want to get the Varidesk Pro Desk 60 Electric Standing Desk to give you the extra space needed for the third monitor. This standing desk is rock solid and will not wobble no matter how high you set it when in a standing position. The black laminate it has top is very solid. It’s not the cheap laminate you often see on kitchen countertops with peeling edges. The laminate is high quality and has some texture to it. It’s pretty resilient and does not scratch very easily.
The following desk mounts will also be needed:
Varidesk does not have a triple-monitor arm mount so you will have to buy the Dual and Single Arm Mounts.
The AVLT-Power Electric Triple Monitor Sit-Stand Workstation is an all-in-one solution. Unlike Varidesk, where you need to purchase at least one extra arm mount. This sit-stand workstation is equipped with an electric self-rising desk for supporting up to three monitors.
Keep in mind, the above options are converters and to be placed on top of a desk.
I know I am nitpicking but thought I should mention this:
Depending on how hard you hit the keys when you are typing, there is a slight wobble. I actually noticed it by mistake. I was building a website at the time and I had forgotten to save my work before accidentally clicking out of a screen. Once I realized it, I started clicking out of all the screens I had opened before shutting the computer down and taking a break.
When I was clicking out of the screens I was a little too aggressive with my keystrokes. I was not too happy because of the work I had just lost. This slight wobble occurred when I had aggressively hit the keys. Otherwise, the Varidesk Pro Plus 48 is very stable.
Do not get me wrong, I am not implying that the Pro Plus 48 is not well built. The desk and table surfaces are constructed using sturdy and long-lasting MDF. MDF is short for medium-density fiberboard that is built tough and very strong. It is developed for years of use in mind.
Its desk and tabletops feature are created with reliable 3-D laminate, wooden tops with chamfered edges. Varidesk uses high-quality materials such as aluminum and steel that are the base of every product they build.
All of the Metal components are powder-coated for added durability. The desk frames are engineered for stability at any height.
Considering Desk Height
The range of desk heights is between 22 and 33 inches high. The average desk height is between 28 and 30 inches. Additionally, you need to consider the height of your monitor and keyboard that will play a part as well. This is why you see 11 different height adjustments to make sure you find the height that is right for you. But there is still a chance Pro Plus 48 may not be a good fit for you?
Is the Varidesk Pro Plus 48 a Good Fit for You?
I will never write a review about a product that I know is a total waste of money. I’m happy to say that the Pro Plus 48 from Varidesk is not one of those products. However, this standing desk/converter is not for everyone. There are a couple of things you need to consider before purchasing this product.
For users who are under 5’5”, the Varidesk Pro Plus 48 will most likely be too tall. Unless you place this on a desk that is higher than the average desk (28 to 30 inches high).
The same thing applies to users above six feet tall. The max adjustment range of any Varidesk pro plus is 14”, which will only provide a standing desk tall enough for a user up to 6 ‘1”. Unless you place this on a desk that is lower than the average desk.
Another option that might work, would be to adjust your chair. Many office chairs do have the option of adjusting the height. If you think you might need a different Office Chair I have written a review and pointed out some of the best office chairs for back pain.
So, if you are 5’5” to 6′ 1” the Varidesk Pro Plus 48 will work for you if you are using desks with standard desk heights.
if you do not think the Varidesk Pro Plus 48 will be a good fit for you? No worries, there are alternatives. I could not consciously write this review without letting you know about the height restrictions may or may not affect you. I also wanted to make sure I provided you with alternatives that are listed below.
- If you are 5 ‘5” and shorter the Healthpostures Taskmate Go for a Single Monitor or Dual Monitor.
- The FlexiSpot M7B Standing Desk is a great budget-friendly option is you are under 5′ 5″.
- For tall users up to 6′ 4″ the FlexiSpot M7MB Stand Up Desk Converter is one better standing desks on the market.
- If you are 6’ 1” feet and taller the FlexiSpot M3B Desk Riser can comfortably handle users up 6′ 6″ and on a tight budget.
Safety & Maintenance
When it comes to maintaining this standing desk it pretty much consists of wiping away the dust. That’s it. It comes with a black glossy colored finish to help protect it from staining. When it comes to standing desks of this quality you will not see too many of these under$500 that offer a manufacturer’s warranty. The Varidesk Pro Plus 48 comes with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.
- It has a two-tier surface area assisted by a spring-loaded lift mechanism allowing for a full range of movement.
- There is absolutely no assembly that is required. This will save you time and energy.
- You get plenty of room to work with 48 inches of workspace. This standing desk has a weight capacity of 45 pounds allowing you to use a couple of monitors, various input devices, files and whatever you want to set on it within reason.
- There is a one-touch height adjustment that covers over 11 positions allowing you to fine-tune.
- You can maintain better posture by being able to adjust the height difference between monitor and keyboard.
- A one-year manufacturer’s warranty that is not very common for these products.
- It can become a little wobble if you are typing really hard. (I am being picky but had to mention it)
- Not suitable for taller users above 6’ 1” unless you place it on a desk that is higher than the conventional desk level. The same applies to people shorter than 5’5 “. That’s unless you place it on a desk that is shorter than the average desk height.
Varidesk Pro Plus 48 Video
Despite the mild wobbling and the height restrictions the Varidesk Pro Plus 48 is a great desktop add-on for converting your desk into a new standing desk in a matter of seconds. Once you have this in place, no longer will “sitting all day could seriously cause me health issues” cross your mind. You can now stand whenever you want to and keep doing what you were doing. At the same time you are doing your body a favor, not to mention your back in particular.
